About Wordie
Wordie is a minimalist Chrome extension that turns everyday reading into vocabulary practice.
What is Wordie?
Wordie is a browser extension for Google Chrome (and Chromium browsers such as Edge, Brave and Arc) that turns everyday reading into vocabulary practice. Select any word on any web page to see its definition, part of speech, synonyms and related words. Save it to your vault with one click, and from then on Wordie highlights that word wherever it appears on the web, so you meet it again and again in real context.
Features
- One-click lookup and save. Select a word to get a definition and synonyms, then save it.
- Contextual highlighting. Saved words are highlighted on every page you visit, turning browsing into review.
- Active recall. A built-in flashcard mode asks you to recall the meaning before revealing it, and tracks a mastery score per word (Forgot, Hard, Easy).
- Analytics. See how many words you have saved and reviewed over the last seven days.
- Export. Download your vault as CSV or JSON at any time, for example to import into Anki.
- Local-first privacy. Your words are stored in your browser. There is no account and no Wordie server that receives your vault.

Who is Wordie for?
English learners preparing for IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge exams, native speakers studying for the GRE or SAT, professionals who read dense material in a second language, and anyone who keeps meeting words they half-know.
